Car Barns
Farwell Avenue Station was built in 1887 to replace an earlier horse car barn at Farwell and Brady. In 1907 it was hit by a disastrous fire which destroyed a number of cars including the private car of John I. Beggs. The barn was rebuilt and served for 10 more years until it was replaced by Oakland Car Station.
The property for the West Allis Station was purchased in 1897 for use as a powerhouse by the Waukesha & North Greenfield Electric Ry. Later that year the W&NGERy was acquired by the Milwaukee Light Heat & Traction Co, the interurban subsidiary of TMER&L. The station was built in 1906 and last saw streetcars in May 1955 when the National Avenue line was cut back. The building was demolished in 1985.
