300 was built by American Car Co in 1913, as San Antonio Traction Co 300.  This car was retired in 1933 and used as a shed or studio at the art museum until some of the local fans, apparently led by the late Rod Varney, got control of the car body and began a terrific restoration using parts from several other bodies. It was just a shed when they started. Then for several years they operated on the tracks of the the Texas Transportation Co. The car was and is now leased as ART 300. My own feeling is that this car should be running on the McKinney Avenue line in Dallas. But then, that's my opinion and I'm stuck with it.
