Electro-Motive SD40-2 Diesels

3090 was built in August 1973, #73713-1, FN 73713-1, as 790.  It was renumbered 3090 in March 1974 and became Union Pacific 4090, SD40-2, on June 23, 1989.  It was retired on April 18, 1994, and sold to Helm Leasing.  It became Canadian National 6090 immediately and was rebuilt by AMF on October 13, 1994, as 5387, Class GF-30w.

3096 was built in August 1973, #73613-2, FN 73613-2, as 796.  It was renumbered 3096 in March 1974 and became UP 4096, Class SD40-2, on December 15, 1989.  It was retired on April 18, 1994, and sold to Helm Leasing.  It became CN 6096 immediately and was rebuilt by AMF on December 19, 1995, as 5375, Class GF-30w.

3101 was built in August 1973, #73713-7, FN 73713-7, as 801.  It was renumbered 3101 in March 1974 and become UP 4101, Class SD40-2, on August 5, 1987.  It was retired on April 18, 1994, and sold to Helm Leasing.  It became CN 6101 immediately and rebuilt by AMF as 5374, Class GF-30w, on August 25, 1995.

3107 was built in September 1973, #73713-18, FN 73713-18, as 807. It was renumbered 3107 in March 1974 and became UP 4107, Class SD40-2, on January 23, 1989. It was retired on April 18, 1994, and sold to Helm Leasing. It became CN 6107 immediately and was rebuilt by AMF as 5366, Class GF-30w, on September 31, 1994.

3111 was built in September 1973, #73613-22, FN 73613-22, as 811.  It was renumbered 3111 in March 1974 and became UP 4111, Class SD40-2, on December 18, 1990.  It was retired on April 18, 1994, and sold to Helm Leasing.  It became CN 6111 immediately and was rebuilt by AMF as 5385, Class GF-30w, on July 6, 1995.

3116 was built in December 1973, #73648-2, FN 73643-2, as Texas & Pacific 817.  It was renumbered 3116 in March 1974 and become MP 3116 in 1976.  It became UP 4116, Class SD40-2, on December 14, 1988, and renumbered B4116 on June 29, 1992.  It was assigned as 8927 but rebuilt as SD38-2, UPY 856, Class SD38-2, on June 7, 2000.

3117 was built in December 1973, #73648-3, FN 73648-3, as T&P 818.  It was renumbered 3117 in March 1974 and became MP 3117 in 1976.  It became UP 4117, Class SD40-2, on October 31, 1989, and renumbered B4117 on July 20, 1992.  It was renumbered 8928 on November 5, 2000, and retired on December 26, 2001.  It was later leased as Austin Area Terminal RR as 3004.

3122 was built in January 1974, #73648-8, FN 73648-8, as T&P 823.  It was renumbered 3122 in March 1974 and became MP 3122 in 1976.  It became UP 4122, Class SD40-2, on October 17, 1991, and renumbered B4122 on July 15, 1992.  It was assigned as 8931 but retired on June 28, 2000.

3131 was built in January 1974, #73648-17, FN 73648-17, as T&P 832.  It was renumbered 3131 in March 1974 and became MP 3131 in 1976.  It became UP 4131, Class SD40-2, on June 9, 1987, and renumbered 9888 on February 29, 2000.  It was retired on February 17, 2009.

3132 was built in January 1974, #73648-18, FN 73648-18, as T&P 833.  It was renumbered 3132 in March 1974 and became MP 3132 in 1976.  It became UP 4132, Class SD40-2, on August 24, 1993, and rebuilt on September 4, 1997 as 2820, Class SD38-2.  It was renumbered UPY820, Class SD38-2, on January 2, 2002.

3133 was built in January 1974, #73648-19, FN 73648-19, as T&P 834.  It was renumbered 3133 in March 1974 and became MP 3133 in 1976.  It became UP 4133, Class SD40-2, on June 21, 1989.  It was rebuilt as B4133 on July 3, 1992, and renumbered 8936 on August 26, 2000.  It was retired on February 27, 2001, and sold as Brownsville & Rio Grande International RR 3986.

3137 was built in January 1974, #73648-23, FN 73748-23, as T&P 838.  It was renumbered 3137 in March 1974 and became MP 3137 in 1976.  It became UP 4137, Class SD40-2, on February 14, 1989, and renumbered 9890 on September 18, 2000. 

3139 was built in February 1974, #73748-1, FN 73748-1,  It became UP 4139, Class SD40-2, on November 23, 1988, and renumbered 9892 on June 14, 2000.  It was retired on July 31, 2001.

3140 was built in February 1974, #73748-2, FN 73748-2.  It became UP 4140, Class SD40-2, on September 9, 1991, and renumbered 9893 on July 27, 2000.  It was retired on April 27, 2001.

3141 was built in February 1974, #73748-3, FN 73748-3.  It became UP 4141, Class SD40-2, on September 30, 1991, and rebuilt as 2825, Class SD38-2, on March 16, 1998.  It was renumbered Y825 on December 12, 2001.

3142 was built in February 1974, #73748-8, FN 73748-8.  It became UP 4142, Class SD40-2, on August 11, 1989, and was renumbered B4142 on June 5, 1992.  It was rebuilt as UPY864, Class SD38-2, on November 18, 2004.

3151 was built in March 1974, #73748-13, FN 73748-13, as Chicago & Eastern Illinois 3151. It became MP 3151 in 1976 and UP 4154, Class SD40-2, on July 27, 1988. It was renumbered 9900 on July 9, 2000, and retired on July 12, 2001.  It was rebuilt as Belt Railway of Chicago 566, slug, and renumbered 565B.

3153 was built in March 1974, #73748-15, FN 73748-15, as C&EI 3153. It became MP 3153 in 1976 and UP 4153, Class SD40-2, on October 25, 1989. It was renumbered 9902 on August 20, 2000.  It was retired on July 31, 2001.  It was sold as Wisconsin & Southern RR 4054 and became WATCo as WAMX 4188.

3154 was built in March 1974, #73748-16, FN 73748-16, as C&EI 3154. It became MP 3154 in 1976 and UP 4154, Class SD40-2, on November 5, 1987. It was renumbered 9903 on October 6, 2000.

3157 was built in March 1974, #73748-19, FN 73748-19, as CE&I 3157.  It became MP 3157 in 1976 and UP 4158, Class SD40-2, on August 1, 1986. It was renumbered 9906 on October 25, 2000, and retired on July 31, 2001.  It was rebuilt as BRC 562B, slug.

3159 was built in March 1974, #73748-21, FN 73748-21, as C&EI 3159. It became MP 3159 in 1976 and UP 4159, Class SD40-2, on November 7, 1991. It was retired on May 31, 1999, and was renumbered 9882 on December 5, 2000, since it was still on the property.

3164 was built in March 1975, #7690-1, FN 74690-1. In 1982 it became UP 4164, Class SD40-2, and was retired on April 19, 1990. It was sold to General American Transportation Co as 2000 on December 21, 1990, and sold to Canadian Pacific on March 14, 1994.  It became CP 5422 on January 17, 1995.  It was sold Locomotive Leasing Partners 4403 on May 26, 1999, and sold to National Railway Equipment Co as NRE 4403 in 2007.

3167 was built in March 1975, #74690-4, FN 74690-4.  It became UP 4167, Class SD40-2, on June 15, 1987, and retired on April 19, 1990.  It was sold as GATX 7374 and relettered as GSCX 7374.  It was sold as NREX 7374 in 2007.

3169 was built in March 1975, #74690-6, FN 74690-6.  It was assigned UP 4169, Class SD40-2, but retired on April 19, 1990.  It was sold as GATX 7361 and sold as NREX 7361 in 2007.

3172 was built in March 1975, #74690-9, FN 74690-9.  It became UP 4172, Class SD40-2, on April 14, 1989, and retired on April 19, 1990.  It was sold as GATX 2003 on November 21, 1990, and then as CP 5425 on February 16, 1995.

3174 was built in March 1975, #74690-11, FN 74690-11.  It became UP 4174, Class SD40-2, on August 28, 1987.  It was retired on April 19, 1990, and sold as Grand Trunk Western 5931, Class GF-30y, in April 1990.

3175 was built in March 1975, #74690-12, FN 74690-12. On September 9, 1986, it became UP 4175, Class SD40-2, and was retired on April 19, 1990. It was sold to GATX as 2004 and then sold to CPR as 5426, Class DRF-30, in March 1994.  It was sold as NREX 5426 and sold at Fort Worth & Western 2015.  It was later named "Butch Cassidy".

3176 was built in March 1975, #74690-13, FN 74690-13.  It was assigned UP 4176, Class SD40-2, but retired on April 19, 1990.  It was sold as GATX 7362 and relettered as GSCX 7362.

3184 was built in March 1975, #74690-21, FN 74690-21.  It became UP 4184, Class SD40-2, on August 20, 1987, and retired on April 19, 1990.  It was sold as GATX 7365.  It was sold as Georgia Southwestern RR 4002 in 2006 and renumbered 3311 in 2010.

3185 was built in March 1975, #74690-22, FN 74690-22.  It was assigned UP 4185, Class SD40-2, but retired on April 16, 1990.  It was sold as GATX 7366 and relettered as GSCX 7388.  It was sold to Watco as WAMX 4129.

3187 was built in March 1975, #74690-24, FN 74690-24.  It became UP 4187, Class SD40-2, on July 1. 1988, and retired on April 19, 1990.  It was sold as GATX 2005 on December 13, 1990, and sold as CPR 5427, Class DRF-30, on July 12, 1994.  It was sold to UniCapital on September 23, 1999, and became Locomotive Leasing Partners 4404.

3188 was built in March 1975, #74690-25, FN 74690-25.  It became UP 4188, Class SD40-2, on February 2, 1988, and retired on April 19, 1990;  It was sold as GATX 2006 on December 9, 1990, and then as CP 5428, Class DRF-30, on October 5, 1994.  It was then sold to Helm Leasing on September 23, 1999, and resold as Missouri & Northern Arkansas 4081 in November 1999.

3190 was built in March 1975, #74690-27, FN 74690-27.  It became UP 4190, Class SD40-2, on June 27, 1989, and retired on April 19, 1990.  It was sold as GATX 7371 and relettered as GSCX 7371.  It was sold as WAMX 4130.

3193 was built in March 1975, #74690-30, FN 74690-30.  It became UP 4193, Class SD40-2, on January 26, 1988, and retired on April 19, 1990.  It was sold as GATX 7377 and relettered as GSCX 7377.  It was leased as Wheeling & Lake Erie Ry 7377 in 2002.

3197 was built in March 1975, #74690-34, FN 74690-34.  It became UP 4197 on June 28, 1989, and retired on April 19, 1990.  It was sold as GATX 2009 on December 9, 1990, and then as CP 5431 on November 20, 1994.

3201 was built in March 1975, #74690-38, FN 74690-38.  It became UP 4201, on April 11, 1988, and retired on April 19, 1990.  It was sold as GATX 7368 and relettered as GSCX 7368.  It was sold as NREX 7368 in 2007.

3203 was built in August 1975, #75616-2, FN 74616-2.  It became UP 4153, Class SD40-2, on January 15, 1986, and renumbered 4203 on April 28, 1986.  It was renumbered 9911 on July 28, 2000, and retired on November 22, 2000.  It was sold to Cycle System in 2001.

3204 was built in August 1975, #75616-3, FN 75616-3.  It became UP 4164, Class SD40-2, on January 15, 1986, and renumbered 4204 on April 15, 1986.  It was renumbered 9912 on June 11, 2000, and retired on June 20, 2001.  It was sold to Larry's Truck Electric Co as LTEX 9912 and sold to Progress Rail Services as PRLX 9912 in 2011.

3205 was built in August 1975, #75616-4, FN 75616-4.  It became UP 4165, Class SD40-2, on January 19, 1986, and renumbered 4205 on April 15, 1986.  It was renumbered B4205 on December 1, 1992. and returned as 4205 on October 7, 1997.  It was renumbered 8943 on May 10, 2000, and retired on July 31, 2001.

3206 was built in August 1975, #75616-5, FN 75616-5.  It became UP 4206, Class SD40-2, on March 27, 1986, and renumbered 9913 on August 20, 2000.  It was retired on September 28, 2001 and sold as Wisconsin & Southern 4052 and became Watco  as WAMX 4186.

3212 was built in August 1975, #75616-11, FN 75616-11.  It became UP 4212, Class SD40-2, on August 31, 1988, and renumbered 9917 on July 24, 2000.  It was retired March 27, 2001, and sold as Ohio Central RR 9917 in 2002.  It was sold as Progress Rail Service as PRSX 9917 in 2006.

3213 was built in August 1975, #75616-12, FN 75616-12.  It became UP 4213, Class SD40-2, on February 20, 1986, and renumbered 9918 on September 1, 2000.  It was retired on October 16, 2001 and sold as WSOR 4053 and became WAMX 4187.

3219 was built in July 1976, #756145-4, FN 756145-4.  It was renumbered 6003 in May 1978 and became UP 3903, Class SD40-2, on July 9, 1986.  It was retired on February 1, 1994, and sold as GATX 903.  It was sold as WAMX 4127.

3220 was built in July 1976, #756145-5, FN 756145-5.  It was renumbered 6004 in May 1978 and became UP 3904, Class SD40-2, on January 21, 1987.  It was retired on February 1, 1994 and sold as GATX 904.  It was sold as Georgia Southwestern RR 904 and renumbered 4003 in 2006.  It became Columbus & Greenville Ry 3312 in 2010.

3225 was built in September 1976, #766005-5, FN 766005-5. It was renumbered 6009 in May 1978 and became UP 3909, Class SD40-2. on June 6, 1986. It was retired on January 30, 2002.

3229 was built August 1978, #766099-14, FN 766099-14.  It became UP 4229 on June 6, 1989, and rebuilt as B4229 on July 31, 1992.  It was renumbered 8952 on October 23, 2002, and renumbered 3203 on April 22, 2014.

3231 was built in September 1978, #776099-16, FN 776099-16.  It became UP 4231, Class SD40-2, on July 20, 1987, and rebuilt as B4231 on July 21, 1992.  It was retired on November 22, 2000.  It was rebuilt as NREX 3600. a 2GS36C-DE, in August 2011, #776099-16.

3232 was built in September 1978, #776099-17, FN 776099-17.  It became UP 4232, Class SD40-2, on May 7, 1986, and rebuilt as B4232 on December 8, 1992.  It was renumbered 8955 on November 14, 2002, and wrecked at Kosse, TX, on April 6, 2014.  It was retired on April 7, 2014, and sold to Larry's Truck Electric Co.

3233 was built in September 1978, #776099-18, FN 776099-18.  It became UP 4233, Class SD40-2, on February 9, 1987, and renumbered 9924 on July 19, 2000.  It was retired on August 22, 2001, and sold as WSOR 4051.  It became WAMX 4185.

3246 was built in September 1978, #776099-31, FN 776099-31. It became UP 4246, Class SD40-2, on May 14, 1990, and was renumbered 9929 on August 16, 2000.  It was rebuilt as SD38-2 as UPY 866 on April 28, 2005.

3251 was built in September 1979, #776099-36, FN 776099-36.  It became UP 4251, Class SD40-2, on April 30, 1986, and renumbered B4251 on December 16, 1992.  It was retired on March 29, 2000, and rebuilt as UPY855, Class SD38-2, on May 26, 2000.

3256 was built in August 1978, #777100-5, FN 777100-5.  It became UP 4256, Class SD40-2, on September 1, 1988, and was renumbered 9931 on October 12, 2000.  It was retired on April 19, 2001, and sold as NREX 9931.  It was sold to Waste Control Specialists LLC as WCSX 1001.

3261 was built in August 1978, #777100-10, FN 777100-10.  It became UP 4261, Class SD40-2, on September 4, 1987, and rebuilt on April 22, 1998, as 2828, Class SD38-2.  It was renumbered UPY828 on October 4, 2001.

3262 was built in August 1978, #777100-11, FN 777100-11.  It became UP 4262, Class SD40-2, on August 14, 1986, and renumbered B2462 on November 18, 1992.  It was retired on April 19, 2001.

3263 was built in August 1978, #777100-12, FN 777100-12.  It became UP 4263, Class SD40-2, on October 6, 1986, and renumbered B4263, on December 21, 1992.  It was renumbered 8968 on October 12, 2000, and renumbered 3206 on May 14, 2014.

3267 was built in May 1979, #786172-2, FN 786172-2.  It became UP 4267, Class SD40-2, on April 6, 1988, and renumbered B4267 on December 22, 1992.  It was rebuilt at Jenks as UPY851, Class SD38-2, on March 3, 2000.

3276 was built in May 1979, #786178-11, FN 786178-11.  It became UP 4276, Class SD40-2, on April 21, 1988, and rebuilt as 2817, Class SD40-2, on July 8, 1997.  It was renumbered as UPY817, Class SD38-2, on November 13, 2001.

3281 was built in May 1979, #786178-16, FN 786178-16.  It became UP 4281, Class SD40-2, on April 22, 1986, and renumbered B4281 on August 14, 1992.  It was retired on September 26, 2001, and sold as WSOR 4050.  It became WAMX 4184.

3286 was built in May 1979, #786178-21, FN 786178-21. It became UP 4286, Class SD40-2, on October 16, 1989, and 9938 on May 7, 2000.  It was retired on November 29, 2001, and sold to Progress Rail Service as PRSX 9938.  It was sold to Helm Leasing Corp as HLCX 6250 in 2002.  It was sold as Norfolk Southern 3527, Class SD40-2, on January 6, 2014.

3288 was built in May 1979, #786178-23, FN 786178-23.  It became UP 4288, Class SD40-2, on November 8, 1985, and renumbered B4288 on May 26, 1989.  It was rebuilt as 2828, Class SD38-2, on April 21, 1998, and renumbered UPY826 on October 24, 2001.

3297 was built in July 1979, #786182-6, FN 786182-6.  It became UP B4297, Class SD40-2, on December 10, 1990, and rebuilt as B4297 on December 2, 1992,  It was retired on March 17, 2000.  It was later sold as Lehigh Hanson 4297.

3303 was built in September 1979, #796308-2, FN 796308-2.  It became UP 4303, Class SD40-2, on May 2, 1989, and renumbered B4303 on August 4, 1992.  It was renumbered 8991 on September 24, 2000, and rebuilt as UPY 865, a SD38-2, on December 28, 2004.

 

6021 was built in June 1979, #786181-2, FN 786181-2.  It became UP 3921, Class SD40-2, on October 1, 1986, and became 3104 on December 9, 2002.  It was rebuilt as 1731, Class SD40N, on September 26, 2012.

6025 was built in June 1979, #786181-6, FN 786181-6.  It became UP 3925, Class SD40-2, on December 17, 1987, and retired on August 29, 2002.  It was lettered as WP 3925, Class RSD40-2, on February 13, 2003.

6027 was built in June 1979, #786181-8, FN 786181-8.  It became UP 3927, Class SD40-2, on January 31, 1987, and renumbered 3105 on January 7, 2003.  It was donated to Railway & Locomotive Historical Society, Southern California Chapter,  in December 2013.

6028 was built in June 1979, #786181-9, FN 786181-9.  It became UP 3928, Class SD40-2, on October 20, 1987, and retired on January 26, 2000.  It was sold to National Railway Equipment Co as NREX 3928.  It was sold to WATCo as WAMX 4126.

6042 was built in June 1979, #786181-23, FN 786181-23.  It became UP 3942, Class SD0-2, on September 22, 1987.  It was retired on March 17, 2000, and lettered as WP 3942 on January 12, 2004.  It was sold to Helm Leasing Corp as HLCX 6232 and sold as Norfolk Southern  3535, Class SD40-2, on December 20, 2013.

6046 was built in June 1979, ##786181-27, FN 786181-27.  It became UP 3946, Class SD40-2, on April 10, 1989, and retired on May 24, 2001.  It was lettered as WP 3946, Class RSD40-2, on February 13, 2003, and sold as HLCX 6238 and scrapped by Milano Metals in March 2013.

6048 was built in June 1979, #786181-29, FN 786181-29.  It became UP 3948, Class SD40-2, on September 11, 1987, and retired on November 29, 2000.  It was lettered as WP 3948, Class RSD40-2, on February 13, 2009, and sold as NREX 3948.  It was sold as WAMX 4118.

6050 was built in June 1979, #786274-1, FN 786274-1.  It became UP 3950, Class SD40-2, on May 19, 1988, and retired on December 21, 2001.  It was later leased as Austin Area Terminal RR as 3002.

6056 was built in April 1980, #796311-3, FN 796311-3.  It became UP 3956, Class SD40-2, on August 22, 1988, and retired on December 21, 2001.  It was sold as HLCX 6234 and sold as Norfolk Southern 3583, Class SD40-2, on December 7, 2013.
