Recently the Fort Worth Star Telegram reported that two Dallas streetcar bodies were found near Alvarado. They reported that a local group wants to restore them and run a heritage trolley in Alvarado. Pete stopped by and took these pictures.
Quite a few years ago, the Mercantile Bank on the far north side of Fort Worth purchased a depot and set it up next to their building. They also had a Georgia & Florida business car and a baggage car. These facilities were used for public relations purposes. The cars were removed in 1998 or 1999 and the station was donated to the City of Saginaw, where it is being restored. Here are photos of the move which took place in July 2000.
One of the sights on the DART line in Oak Cliff is the remains of the Texas Electric trestle which crossed the Santa Fe trackage which became the right of way of the DART line.
A little farther south on the South Oak Cliff line is the former Monroe Shops of the Texas Electric. It is being developed as a shopping center.
