2253 was built by Electro-Motive in September 1963, #28430, as Gulf Mobile & Ohio 528, a GP30. It later became Illinois Central Gulf 2277 and was later rebuilt as CSX 2253.

2256 was built by Electro-Motive in February 1963, #27912, as GM&O 508, a GP30. It later became ICG 2258 and was later rebuilt as CSX 2256.
