Electro-Motive GP40 Rebuilt Diesels
4738. GP40-2P, was built in January 1967, #32475, as Chicago Milwaukee St Paul & Pacific 158,
Class 30E-RS. It was renumbered 2031 in 1968 and became Soo Line RR 2031 in 1985. It was later rebuilt
by National Railway Equipment in 1994 as KCS 4738.
4745, GP40-2P, was built in January 1970, #35105, as Seaboard Coast Line 1592. It became Seaboard System as 1592 and later 6747 and
then CSX Transportation 6747, Class
GP-40. It was rebuilt by VMV in June 1994 as KCS 4745,
4746, GP40-2P, was built in August 1971, #38486, as Baltimore & Ohio 4006, Class GP-40. It was
renumbered 6581 and then became CSX 6581, Class GP-40. It was retired on
January 13, 1993, and sold to National Railway Equipment on March 10, 1993, It
was rebuilt by VMV as KCS 4746 in June 1994.
4747, GP40-2P, was built in March 1967, #35106, as Richmond Fredericksburg & Potomax 127. It
was taken by CSX as 6861, Class GP-40. It was purchased by National Railway
Equipment and rebuilt by VMV in July 1994.
4749, GP40-2P, was built in January 1971, #36736, as B&O 3755, Class
GP-40. It was renumbered in 1979 and 1980 numbered 9755 temporary. It later was
renumbered 6531 and then became CSX 6531, Class GP-40. It was damaged
and retired on January 13, 1993. It was purchased by National Railway Equipment
on May 3, 1993, and was rebuilt by VMV as KCS 4749 in March 1994.
4751, GP40-2P, was built in May 1970, #35916, as SCL 1615. It then became SBD as 1615 and later
renumbered 6769 and then CSX 6769, Class GP-40. It was rebuilt by AMF in February 1994 as KCS 4751.
4759, GP40-2P, was built in December 1969, #35089, as SCL 1576. It then
became SBD as 1576 and later renumbered 6731 and then CSX 6731, Class GP-40. It
was rebuilt by AMF in May 27, 1994, as KCS 4759.
4766, GP40-2P, was built in May 1966, #31663, as Western
Pacific 3502, Class RS-68. It became Union
Pacific 652 on January 9, 1984, and was retired April 5, 1993. It
went to Morrison Knudsen where it was rebuilt on November 20, 1993, as KCS
4766.
4780, GP40-2P, was built in November 1968, #34618, as Penn Central 3177, Class EF-30/ It became Consolidated Railroad Corp 3177, Class GP-40,
in April 1976, and was sold to KCS as
752 in January 1984. It was renumbered 4752 in June 1991 and then rebuilt to
Morrison-Knudsen in October 4, 1991, as KCS 4780.
4787, GP40-P2, was built in October 1968, #34613, as PC 3172, Class
EF-30. It became Conrail 3172, Class GP-40, in April 1973 and was sold to KCS
749 in January 1984. It was renumbered 4749 in June 1949 and then rebuilt to
Morrison-Knudsen in December 1991 as KCS 4787.
4792, GP40-2P, was built in September 1968, #34328, as PC 3151, Class
EF-30. It became Conrail 3151, Class GP-40, in April 1976, and was sold to KCS
as 776 in September 1983. It was rebuilt by Morrison Knudsen in December 1991
as KCS 4792.
4800, GP40-3, was built in May 1979, #786186-1, as St Louis-San Francisco 750. It became Burlington Northern 3040, Class GP40-2, in December 1980
and retired in September 1997. It was
rebuilt by VMV as GP40-3 as Kansas City Southern
4800.
4801, GP40-3, was built in May 1979, #786186-2, as SL-SF 751. It became BN 3041, Class GP40-2, in December
1980 and was retired in September 1997.
It became KCS 3041 in 1997 and rebuilt by VMV
as 4801 in 1998.
4809, GP40-3, was built in May 1979, #786186-10, as SL-SF 759. It became BN 3049, Class GP40-2, in December
1980 and retired in September 1997. It
was rebuilt by VMV as GP40-3 as KCS 4809.
