Electro-Motive SW7 Diesels
8845, Class SW-7, was built in January 1950, #8136, as Indiana Harbor Belt 8845, Class DES-16b. It was reclassified as Class ES-12 in 1966 and became New York Central 8845, Class ES-12, in 1967. It then became Penn Central 8845, Class ES-12, in 1968, and Conrail 8845, Class SW-7, in April 1976. It was retired on April 11, 1991, and sold to Providence & Worcester as 1201 in 1991. It was retired and sold to MSA Scrap in 2002.
8853, Class SW-7, was built in February 1950, #9453, as NYC 8853, Class DES-16b. It was reclassified as ES-12 in 1966 and became PC 8853, Class ES-12, in 1968. It became Conrail 8853, Class SW-7, in April 1976 and was retired on May 22, 1986. It was sold to Central Indiana & Western as 88.
8862, Class SW-7, was built in November 1950, #12023, as Erie RR 430, Class SE-10. It became Erie Lackawanna 430, Class SE-12, in 1960 and Conrail 8862, Class SW7, in April 1976. It was scrapped in March 1987 at Hollidaysburg, PA.
8865, Class SW-7, was built in November 1950, #12025, ex Erie RR 433, Class SE-12. It became EL 433, Class SE-12, in 1960 and Conrail 8865, Class SW7, in April 1976. It was retired on April 11, 1991, and scrapped at Hollidaysburg, PA.
8905, Class SW-7, was built in November 1950, #13013, as Peoria & Eastern 8905, Class DES-14g. It was reclassified Class ES-12 in 1966 and became Conrail 8905, Class SW-7, in April 1976. It was retired in 1989 and sold as Blue Mountain & Reading RR 1200 on March 3, 1989. It was sent to Baltimore & Ohio Museum.
