Small St. Louis Cars 1101-1423

 

These cars were built by St. Louis Car in 1903 and 1906 for Chicago Union Traction Co. They are similar to the Robertson design without the small windows. Cars of this series were converted to one man operation in later years and have a wide horizontal stripe on the front to denote this. Two were used for an experimental articulated train.  A number of these cars were converted to sand and salt service and as flangers.

1104 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as Chicago Union Traction Co 4633.  It was renumbered 1104 in 1913 and became CSL 1104 in 1914.  It was renumbered 1101 in 1925.  With 1102, it was rebuilt as articulated train 4000 using a Cincinnatii Car steel vestibule drum between the bodies.  It was completed on August 3, 1925, and scrapped on March 30, 1937.

1105 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4634.  It was renumbered 1105 in 1913 and became CSL 1105 in 1911.  It was renumbered 1102 in 1925.  With 1101, it was rebuilt as articulated train 4000 using a Cincinnatii Car steel vestibule drum between the bodies.  It was completed on August 3, 1925, and scrapped on March 30, 1937.

1122 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4651.  It was renumbered 1122 in 1913 and became CSL 1122 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as a salt car in December 1930 and scrapped on April 23, 1937.

1142 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4671.  It was renumbered 1142 in 1913 and became CSL 1145 in 1914.   It was rebuilt as a salt car in 1930 and renumbered AA27 on April 15, 1948.  It was retired on May 17, 1958.

1145 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4674. It was renumbered 1145 in 1913 andt became CSL 1145 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in 1931 and renumbered AA28 on April 15, 1948.  It was retired on December 14, 1956.

1166 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4695.  It was renumbered 1166 in 1913 and became CSL 1166 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in 1931 and renumbered AA29 on April 15,1948.  It was retired on December 14, 1956.

1183 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4712.  It was renumbered 1183 in 1913 and became CSL 1183 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in 1931 and renumbered AA30 on April 15,1948.  It was retired on December 27, 1955.

1188 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4717.  It was renumbered 1188 in 1913 and became CSL 1188 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as a salt car in November 1930 and scrapped on April 30, 1937.

1198 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4727.  It was renumbered 1198 in 1913 and became CSL 1198 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in 1931 and renumbered AA31 on April 15, 1948.  It was retired on September 8, 1955.

1201 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4730.  It was renumbered 1201 in 1913 and became CSL 1201 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as a salt car in November 1931 and restored to passenger service on March 6, 1943.

1205 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4734.  It was renumbered 1205 in 1913 and became CSL 1205 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in 1931 and renumbered AA32 on April 15, 1948.  It was retired on December 14, 1956.

1208 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4737.  It was renumbered 1208 in 1913 and became CSL 1208 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as a salt car in November 1931 and returned to passenger service on March 4, 1943. It was rebuilt as W55, work trailer, and retired on October 4, 1946.

1211 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4740.  It was renumbered 1911 in 1913 and became CSL 1211 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as a salt car in November 1931 and wrecked on January 30, 1939, at 111th and Sacramento when hit by a Grand Trunk Western train.  It was scrapped on March 8, 1939.

1212 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4741.  It was renumbered 1212 in 1913 and became CSL 1212 in 1914,  It was rerbuilt as a salt car in November 1931 and returned to passenger service on February 20, 1943.

1213 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4742.  It was renumbered 1213 in 1913 and became CSL 1213 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in 1931 and renumbered AA33 on April 15, 1948.  It was retired on December 27, 1955.

1215 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4744.  It was renumbered 1215 in 1913 and became CSL 1215 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in 1931 and renumbered AA34 on April 15, 1948.  It was retired on October 7, 1954.

1218 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4747.  It was renumbered 1218 in 1913 and became CSL 1218 in 1914.  It was burned in June 1947.

1219 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4748.  It was renumbered 1219 in 1913 and became CSL 1219 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in 1931 and renumbered AA35 on April 15, 1948.  It was retired on February 9, 1951.

1220 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4749.  It was renumbered 1220 in 1913 and became CSL 1220 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in 1931 and renumbeed AA36 on April 15, 1948.  It was retired on May 17, 1958.

1221 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4750.  It was renumbered 1221 in 1913 and became CSL 1221 in 1914. 

1223 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4642.  It was renumbered 1223 in 1913 and became CSL 1223 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in November 1931 and returned to passenger service on April 11, 1943.

1224 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4753.  It was renumbered 1224 in 1913 and became CSL 1224 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in 1931 and renumbered AA37 on April 15, 1948.  It was retired on May 17, 1958.

1225 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4754.  It was renumbered 1225 in 1913 and became CSL 1225 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in November 1931 and returned to passenger service on March 4, 1943.

1226 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4755.  It was renumbered 1226 in 1913 and became CSL 1226 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in November 1931 and renumbered 1357 in 1937.  It was returned to passenger service on May 14, 1943.

1228 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4757.  It was renumbered 1228 in 1913 and became CSL 1228 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in November 1931 and returned to passenger service on May 29, 1943.

1229 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4758.  It was renumbered 1229 in 1913 and became CSL 1229 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in November 1931 and returned to passenger service on March 27, 1943.

1231 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4760.  It was renumbered 1231 in 1913 and became CSL 1231 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in 1931 and renumbered AA38 on April 15, 1948.  It was retired on September 27, 1956

1234 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4763.  It was renumbered 1234 in 1913 and became CSL 1234 in 1904.  It was rebuilt as salt car in November 1931 and returned to passenger service on March 5, 1943.

1235 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4764.  It was renumbered 1235 in 1913 and became CSL 1235 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in 1931 and renumbered AA39 on April 15, 1948.  It was retired on September 23, 1954.

1238 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4767.  It was renumbered 1238 in 1913 and became CSL 1238 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in November 1931 and returned to passenger service on May 15, 1943.

1239 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4768.  It was renumbered 1239 in 1913 and became CSL 1239 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in 1931 and renumbered AA40 on April 15, 1948.  It was retired on August 10, 1951.

1240 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4769.  It was renumbered 1240 in 1913 and became CSL 1240 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in 1931 and renumbered AA41 on April 15, 1948.  It was retired on November 6, 1951.

1241 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4770.  It was renumbered 1241 in 1913 and became CSL 1241 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in 1931 and renumbererd AA42 on April 15, 1948.  It was retired on November 21, 1951/.

1243 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4772.  It was renumbered 1243 in 1913 and became CSL 1243 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in 1931 and renumbered AA43 on April 15, 1948.  It was retired on October 7, 1954.

1244 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4773.  It was renumbered 1244 in 1913 and became CSL 1244 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in November 1931 and returned to passenger service on March 12, 1943.

1245 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4774.  It was renumbered 1245 in 1913 and became CSL 1245 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in November 1931 and returned to passenger service on March 8, 1943.

1248 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4777.  It was renumbered 1248 in 1913 and became CSL 1248 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in 1931 and renumbered AA44 on April 15, 1948.  It was retired on October 5, 1951.

1249 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4778.  It was renumbered 1249 in 1913 and became CSL 1249 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in 1931 and renumbered AA45 on April 15, 1948.  It was retired on August 24, 1950.

1253 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4782.  It was renumbered 1253 in 1913 and became CSL 1253 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in November 1931 and renumbered 1257 in 1937.  It was returned to passenger service on May 14, 1943.

1254 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4783.  It was renumbered 1254 in 1913 and became CSL 1254 in 1940.  It was rebuilt as salt car in November 1931 and rebuilt to passenger service on June 11, 1943.

1255 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4784.  It was renumbered 1255 in 1913 and became CSL 1255 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in 1931 and renumbered AA48 on April 15, 1948.  It was retired on July 20, 1951.

1257 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4786.  It was renumbered 1257 in 1913 and became CSL 1257 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in November 1931 and renumbered 1253 in 1937.  It was renumbered 1385 in 1937 and returned to passenger service on March 11, 1943.

1259 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4788.  It was renumbered 1259 in 1913 and became CSL 1259 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in 1931 and renumbered AA49 on April 15, 1948.  It was retired on May 27, 1952.

1260 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1903 as CUT 4789.  It was renumbered 1260 in 1913 and became CSL 1260 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in 1931 and renumbered AA50 on April 15, 1948.  It was retired on December 27, 1955.

1374 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1905, #715, as CUT 4903. It was renumbered 1374 in 1913 and became CSL 1374 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as salt car in June 1933 and renumbered AA63 on April 15, 1948.  It was retired on March 11, 1959.  It was sold to Electric Railway Historical Society in 1959 and went to Illinois Railway Museum in 1973.

1379 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1906 as CUT 4908.  It became CSL 1379 in 1914.

1381 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1906 as CUT 4910.  It became CSL 1381 in 1914.

1400 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1906 as CUT 4929.  It became CSL 1400 in 1914.

1402 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1906 as CUT 4631.  It became CSL 1402 in 1914.

1404 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1906 as CUT 4633.  It became CSL 1404 in 1914.

1405 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1906 as CUT 4634.  It was renumbered 1405 in 1913 and became CSL 1405 in 1914.  It was rebuilt as derrick X2 in 1917 and retired on December 27, 1955.

1410 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1906 as CUT 4639.  It became CSL 1410 in 1914.

1411 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1906 as CUT 4640.  It became CSL 1411 in 1914.

1419 was built by St Louis Car Co in 1906 as CUT 4648.  It became CSL 1419 in 1914.
