Civic Railways Cars

 

The Toronto Civic Rys. was established in 1911 in response to the failure of the Toronto Rys. to extend their lines into newer areas of the city. Their cars were absorbed into the TTC in 1921 at the same time that the T Rys was taken over.

2130, Class H-1, was built by Niles Car in 1913 as CRys 101, Class B.  It became TTC 2130, Class H-1, in 1921.  It was scrapped in 1948.

2132, Class H-1, was built by Niles Car in 1913 as CRys 102, Class B.  It became TTC 2132, Class H-1, in 1921.  It was scrapped in 1948.

2136, Class H-1, was built by Niles Car in 1913 as CRys 104, Class B.  It became TTC 2136, Class H-1, in 1921.  It was scrapped in 1948.

2144, Class H-1, was built by Niles Car in 1913 as CRys 118, Class B.  It became TTC 2144, Class H-1, in 1921.  It was scrapped in 1948.

2152 was built by Niles Car in 1913 as CRys 109, Class B.  It became TTC 2152, Class H-1, in 1921.  It was scrapped in 1948.

2154, Class H-1, was built by Niles Car in 1913 as CCRys 110, Class B.  It became TTC 2154, Class H-1, in 1921.  It was scrapped in 1948.

2168 thru 2192 even were built by Preston Car in 1918 as TCRys 200 thru 212. They were Civic Ry Class F. They became TTC Class J and were one manned in 1925. They were scrapped in 1948 and 1949. 2190 went in 1949.

2200, 2202, and 2204 were built by Preston Car in 1915 as TCRys 50 thru 52. They were Civic Rys Class D. They became TTC Class F, and in 1931 they were converted to scraper service.

2206 thru 2212 even were built by Preston Car in 1915 as TCRys 53 thru 56, Class E. In 1921 they became TTC Class F, and in 1931 they were converted to scraper service. On May 24, 1954, 2210 was turned over to the Ontario Electric Railway Historical Association to be restored to its original condition.

2216 thru 2264 even were built by Brill Car Co in July 1920, #21156, as TCRys 60 thru 84, Class G.  In 1921 they became TTC Class G.  2216, 2230, and 2234 were sold as Cornwall Street Ry 16, 18, and 20 in 1927 and scrapped in 1949.  2236, 2242, 2244, 2246, 2248, 2254, 2256, and 2260 were sold as Nova Scotia Light & Power Co 138 thru 145 in 1927.  2220, 2240, 2228, 2250, 2252, 2258, 2262, and 2264 were sold as NSL&P 159 thru 166 in 1940.  2218, 2222, 2224, 2226, 2232, and 2238 were sold as NSL&P 167 thru 172 in 1941.
