Akron is on the main line to Denver.

Denver is Denver Union Terminal Co and was originally built in 1881.  It burned in 1894 and was rebuilt.  It was again rebuilt in 1914 and restored in the 2000s.

Illinois

South from Yates City are the lines into the coal regions of Western Illinois. Just north of Beardstown is Browning.

I could not find Camp Grant on any map, and I had to rely on memory to place it near Rockford.

Chicago Union Station was begun in 1874 and included Pennsylvania RR, CB&Q, Michigan Central, Chicago & Alton, and Chicago Milwaukee & St Paul but Michigan Central dropped out before it was opened.  A new station was built beginning in 1913 and opened in 1925.  It was completed in 1927.  When I worked for REA, I spent a lot of time at the regional offices several blocks south of the station.

Galesburg is the main shops west of Chicago.

Hinsdale was a suburban stop west of Chicago. The train is the original Zephyr.

Monmouth is just down the road from Galesburg.

Steward Junction is just east of Rochelle, and it is the place where Milwaukee Road trains to Ladd returned to their own trackage on the former Rochelle & Southern.

Halfway between Galesburg and Peoria is Yates City. In the photo, the fireman is getting orders for the final half of the run into Peoria.

Kansas

Atchison had a Union Station which also served the Santa Fe and the Missouri Pacific.

Nebraska

Kearney, NE.

Wisconsin

On the main line to the Twin Cities, La Crosse, WI, was a major stop and had a modern depot.
