City Cars 875 - 899

The 800s were the first lightweight cars received and were originally configured as one-man-two-man cars. They had double rear doors as well as the double front doors and were painted in the yellow livery.

875 thru 899 were built by St. Louis Car in 1920. In 1926 they were rebuilt as one-man cars. The rear door was changed to a single treadle door. In 1929 and 1930, the cars were modernized with globe lights and panels over the controls.

888 was given special treatment in the late 1940s. The motors were rewound, and the wheels were replaced with a sandwich wheel similar to PCC wheels. The car was fast, but slippery, and the friction brakes cooked the silencing material. She also got more flexible springs which gave her an extremely bouncy ride.

882 was rebuilt in 1954 with a plow on one end and a pilot on the other for use at the Lakeside Power Plant of WEPCo. It also had interurban headlights added. It ran until May 8, 1961.

Retirement began in 1950, and some cars lasted until the end on March 2, 1958.

Choose Life.

1 of 5 babies is legally murdered.  Can we expect politicians to protect any one or any thing who vote for abortion?
