Interurbans 1101-1110

These 10 cars were built by St. Louis Car in 1907 and were similar to the earlier 1001 thru 1025. They were, however, equipped to run on either the low voltage lines or the new 3300 volt single-phase AC lines beyond St. Martins and Waukesha Beach. In 1909, the high voltage lines were changed to 1200 volt DC, and the equipment on the cars reflected the change.

Beginning in 1924, with the upgrade of the interurban lines, these cars were included in the rebuilding program. When rebuilt they were renumbered to make room for the rebuilt former Milwaukee Northern cars. In 1946, the cars were sold to KMCL along with the remaining interurban lines. They survived into Milwaukee Rapid Transit & Speedrail ownership in 1949.

1101 was rebuilt in 1924 as 4 "Winnebago".  It burned on December 11, 1925, and the frame was rebuilt as 1133.  It was scrapped in 1952.

1102 was rebuilt in 1927 as 1137. It was scrapped in 1952.

1103 was rebuilt in 1927 as 1138.  The body was shipped to Ohio in 1952 and scrapped in 1957.

1104 was rebuilt in 1927 as 1139. It was scrapped in 1952.

1105 was rebuilt in 1927 as 1140. It was scrapped in 1952.

1106 was rebuilt in 1927 as 1141. It was scrapped in 1952.

1107 was rebuilt in 1924 as 1131. It was retired April 29, 1941, and was scrapped in 1946 after years of storage at Oakland Car Station.

1108 was rebuilt in 1924 as 1130.  It was retired on April 29, 1941, and scrapped in 1948.

1109 was rebuilt in 1924 as 1132.  It was retired on April 29, 1941, and scrapped in 1945.

1110 was rebuilt in 1924 as 3 "Waubeesee".  It was rebuilt as 1134 in 1927 and was used only occasionally afterwards. In 1941 it was sold to the London & Port Stanley as 23. It was a control trailer and had an extra baggage door cut into the left side. It was sold as a summer cottage in 1955 when the L&PS abandoned passenger service.

Put your heart aside.  Duty comes first,  But when fulfilling your duty, put your heart into it.  It helps.
