Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe

3400 Class 4-6-2s

 

These locomotives were equipped with Elesco feedwater heaters and Walschaert valve gear. 3400 thru 3429 came with Hodges trailing trucks and 3430 thru 3449 had Delta trailing trucks. They were rebuilt with various other features.

3417 was built by Baldwin in 1919, #51889, and was rebuilt at Cleburne in October 1943. It was donated to the City of Cleburne for display on April 26, 1955. It was acquired by the Fort Worth & Western in 1990 and relettered, but it was never moved. It was returned to the city and is now a candidate for full restoration by local interests for excursion service.

3429 was built by Baldwin in 1921, #54982. It was rebuilt at Topeka in June 1940 with box pok drivers. It was sold for scrap to The Purdy Co on November 24, 1955.

3438 was built by Baldwin in 1923, #56771. It was rebuilt at Topeka in June 1936 with box pok drivers. It was sold for scrap to Luria Bros on March 10, 1952.
